  • Prevent further lines & wrinkle by relaxing muscles

There are many reasons why you might feel the need for wrinkle relaxing injections. Ageing results in loss of elasticity in the skin giving a looser, dull look. This can be due to simple genetics and how your skin changes over time, but also a result of continual movement and expression, sun exposure, stress, smoking, alcohol consumption and dehydration. Over time all of these things combine to make permanent wrinkles.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections Botox

Anti-Wrinkle Injections (commonly known as botox) can reverse and prevent these signs of ageing no matter what has happened to your skin in the past. By reducing overactive muscle movement in the face, your skin becomes relaxed and gets a chance to recover from continual movement. The result essentially irons out your skin giving it a smoother younger look.

How do Anti-Wrinkle Injections work?

Botulinum Toxin works by relaxing selected muscles that pull the skin, causing lines and wrinkles. It does this by blocking impulses from the nerve endings to the tiny facial muscles, causing temporary ‘freezing’ of the muscle responsible for frowning and similar lines around the eyes when smiling. As the muscles relax, the lines will soften or even disappear completely. The injections are completely safe and may be performed in as little as twenty minutes, with results lasting for an average of three to four months.

Azzalure Boulinum Toxin Type A

Azzalure Boulinum Toxin Type A

Azzalure is one of the top four licensed toxin products used for the treatment of lines and wrinkles in the UK. The injections contain the active ingredient Botulinum Toxin type A, which is a toxin produced by the bacteria Clostridium Botulinum. The toxin temporarily weakens the muscles that gather your skin into folds, making it crease-proof enough to prevent wrinkles becoming established. When injected, it attached itself to the target muscle. Once it wears off, normally after about four months, the muscles regenerate and regain enough strength to start creasing up your skin again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who should have Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

They are treatment of choice for people who have forehead lines, frown lines or wrinkles around their eyes which they wish to reduce.

How does Anti-Wrinkle Injections work?

It does this by blocking impulses from the nerve endings to the tiny facial muscles, causing temporary ‘freezing’ of the muscle responsible for frowning and similar lines around the eyes when smiling. Can I be sure I won't get the ‘FROZEN FACE’ look?

It reduces muscle movement, not prevents it. The frozen look people are well acquainted with is due to overly large amount of the purified protein being used in each treatment. Our experienced doctor at Laser Chic is known for providing a gentle approach with natural looking results. She will administrate a small amount, inviting you back for review in two weeks to assess if more is required.

Does it hurt?
The procedure is largely pain free, with the exception of mild discomfort which is experience due to the small needle injection involved. You may notice some soreness in the injection site directly after the treatment, but this should subside quickly.
What can I expect when I have my treatment?

At your initial consultation, prior to your treatment, you will meet with your doctor who will spend time going through the exact science behind anti-wrinkle products and explaining how it works. She would then review your past medical history to assess your suitability to proceed and agree the areas you want treated. She will talk you through the procedure, answering any questions you might have. Only when and if you are comfortable and ready, will your treatment starts.

The treatment area will be cleansed and the product administrated with a fine needle placed no more than 3mm into the skin. Some patients barely even feel this whilst some will feel a small sting on needle entry that clears within seconds.

When will I notice the treatment working?

The wrinkle relaxing injection takes up to 10 days to have full effect. By week 2 your face will feel smooth and fresher. Over several months the muscle breaks down the treatment and by month 3-4 you will notice gradual movement returning to the treated muscles. Most patients come back for a second treatment from 4 months onwards depending on how much movement you wish to have.
Large studies have shown that the results last longer after each consecutive treatment.

What areas can benefit from an Anti-Wrinkle Injection?

Anti-Wrinkle injections are most effective when used to reduce the signs of ageing in the following places:

  • Forehead / brow
  • Between the eyes
  • Sides of the eyes
Is there any down-time?
There may be small bumps where the product has been injected but these typically clear within 10 minutes. The treatment will take around 10-15 minutes and there is no down time so you can come in to Laser Chic on your lunch break. Immediately following your treatment, you are advised to avoid exercise and hot bath to prevent sweating out the protein. We also recommend avoiding massaging or rubbing the area for 24 hours after the treatment.
How regularly should I have Anti-Ageing Injection treatment?
To ensure the best results long-term, initial treatments should be approximately 3-4 months apart, but this will eventually become 6-12 months as your muscle is re-educated.
What are the possible side effects?

Most side effects are short-lived and mild, the most common being mild bruising to the site of the injection. some patients also report mild headaches shortly after the treatment, but these usually subside within 24 hours.

Cautions / Contraindication

You should not have this treatment if:

  • The injection site is infected
